Queen Angélique Kidjo will kick off the 37th International Festival Nuits d’Afrique, with a show presented at the MTelus on July 12.
In 40 years, the Franco-Beninese singer has become a true icon of African music and international song. She has collected five Grammy awards in her career and multiplied collaborations, the most recent being a duet with the popular Nigerian singer Burna Boy, and another with the Frenchman Christophe Maé.
Angélique Kidjo recently received the prestigious international Polar Music Prize, awarded each year by the Stig Anderson Music Award Foundation, founded in 1989 by the former manager of ABBA, and which rewards artists who have contributed favorably to music.
