Faced with outcry over CBC Podcasts’ decision to entrust the French adaptation of its podcast show Alone: A Love Story to a Parisian studio, CBC/Radio-Canada President and CEO Catherine Tait decided on Friday to withdraw the podcast and entrust the adaptation to a Quebec dubbing company.
In a letter addressed to the president of the Union des artistes du Québec (UDA), Tania Kontoyanni, Catherine Tait apologizes and undertakes to “correct the situation”.
The ten episodes of the podcast Seule: une histoire d’amour, inspired by the book of the same name, tells the story of Michelle Parise, a journalist and author from Toronto who is going through a separation. “We accept the apology and pass it on to our members. Francophone performers, including those in the dubbing industry, need the support of their state corporation. The UDA is always ready to collaborate on issues that concern its members,” replied Tania Kontoyanni in a press release.
