Acura continues the slow peeling of information about the highly anticipated Integra Type S by revealing its power. The model, which is closely based on the Honda Civic Type R, will have a handful more horsepower to confirm its pecking order.
For example, its turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder will produce 320 hp, compared to 315 hp for the Civic. Torque of 310 lb-ft remains the same in both cases. Is this the omen of a mechanism that can revolutionize at higher revs, giving it a hotter temper or simply a different calibration? Acura is not offering anything at this time to explain this slight difference in power.
Never mind, the compact will only be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission to delight purists and stand out from the competition among luxury brands. It will be interesting to observe the differences in approach on a technical level between this Integra Type S and the Civic Type R currently on the market. One thing is certain, Acura is already saying that its creation will take a more luxurious approach, which could translate into a higher weight.
We will know more at the Long Beach Grand Prix, an IndyCar championship event held from April 14 to 16, which will be the scene of its premiere.
