(Toronto) The Hudson’s Bay Company says the return of its Zellers brand will gain momentum in its department stores across the country.

The Toronto retailer announced Wednesday that pop-up Zellers will open at all Hudson’s Bay stores that have not yet participated in the low-cost brand’s resurrection.

The operation will cover 13 stores in Ontario, seven in British Columbia, six in Alberta, four in Quebec and one in Manitoba.

These spaces will be open in time for the holiday season and will bring the number of Hudson’s Bay branches with a Zellers presence to 78.

Spaces typically range in size from 1,000 to 2,800 square feet and sell a range of affordable household items.

Hudson’s Bay says it uses the experience of pop-up stores to determine which markets would be best suited to accommodate future larger Zellers stores — between 8,000 and 10,000 square feet.

“Ephemeral spaces are a key part of our expansion strategy. They allow us to explore and test new markets and refine our offering before opening larger stores,” Hudson’s Bay President Sophia Hwang-Judiesch said in a statement.

“It is our customer base that will help determine how and where to grow. »
