(Calgary) The WestJet Group said Monday that it has completed its acquisition of Sunwing Vacations and Sunwing Airlines first announced in March last year.
The company clarified that, initially, the airlines would continue to operate independently.
However, WestJet said the two airlines would change from competitors to collaborators.
Stephen Hunter, former CEO of Sunwing Vacations, has been named CEO of WestJet Group Vacations. Mr. Hunter will be responsible for all tour operator activities and packages for Sunwing Vacations and WestJet Vacations.
The federal government approved the takeover of Sunwing by WestJet in March.
