(Washington) The growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) of the United States accelerated further in the third quarter, to 4.9% at an annualized rate, more than double the second quarter, driven in particular by strong household consumption, according to the first estimate from the Commerce Department, published Thursday.

Simply comparing to the previous quarter, growth is 1.2%. It was, in the second quarter, 2.1% annualized, and 0.5% compared to the previous quarter.
