(Anaheim) 19-year-old Quebec defenseman Tristan Luneau signed his first professional contract on Tuesday. He will be tied to the Anaheim Ducks for the next three seasons.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Luneau was a second-round selection — the 53rd overall — for the Ducks in the 2022 NHL Draft. He had convinced the Californian team with 12 goals and 43 points in his second season with the Gatineau Olympiques.

Luneau nearly doubled his production in the following campaign, hitting the target 20 times while totaling 83 points in 65 games. He showed a differential of plus-49. He also won the Émile-Bouchard trophy, awarded to the best in the QMJHL, at the end of the season.

The young athlete from Victoriaville added two goals and 17 points in 13 playoff games. He helped the Olympiques eliminate the Saint-Jean Sea Dogs and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, before the Quebec Remparts played the same trick on them.
