(Detroit) The Detroit Red Wings held off a late comeback from the Pittsburgh Penguins to win 6-3 on Wednesday.

After Evgeni Malkin opened the scoring at the very start of the match, the Red Wings scored four unanswered goals. Alex DeBrincat, Ben Chiarot, Andrew Copp and David Perron gave the local favorites a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Erik Karlsson, however, reduced the gap with his first goal for the Pennsylvania club, in the third period, then Bryan Rust put the Penguins within a single goal of their opponents.

Copp and DeBrincat then completed their double by placing the puck in an empty cage during the last two minutes of play to seal the outcome of the game.

Acquired from the Ottawa Senators this summer, DeBrincat lit the red light in each of his first four games in a Red Wings uniform.

With extra assist, he totaled eight points. Only Jud McAtee, Paul Coffey and Dutch Reibel have amassed as many points in their first four outings with the Michigan team.

Dylan Larkin collected three assists in the victory. The captain also threw down the gloves to Marcus Pettersson in the second half.

The former Montreal Canadiens obtained his first two points with the Penguins by being complicit in two goals from his teammates.

Ville Husso made 30 saves to win, while Tristan Jarry was tested 27 times.

Sidney Crosby collected an assist in the game. It was his 1,507th point with the Penguins, moving him past Raymond Bourque (1,506) into seventh place in NHL history for points with a single team.
