Honda redesigned its Pilot this year. More enveloped than the model it replaces, this Honda Pilot SUV does not, strictly speaking, offer more interior clearance than the Atlas. The Pilot stands out, however, for its modularity, its more developed off-road capabilities and more responsive all-wheel drive. To this should be added an engine with a larger displacement, but which consumes no more than that of the Volkswagen. But good ? We can criticize it for the absence of a hybrid engine (for the moment) to reduce its environmental footprint, or even the “smallness” of its infotainment screen.

At the same time more sophisticated, more rewarding and more avant-garde than the Atlas, Mazda’s latest addition, the CX-90, has many advantages. Some will find its steering a little heavy, its suspensions a little firm, but this Mazda still shines with its dynamism. The six-cylinder engine performs well and is undoubtedly a better choice than the hybrid engine with its disappointing range. Functionally, the CX-90 does not always meet the criteria sought by consumers. The seats (second and third rows) are narrower than in the Atlas, as is the volume of the trunk.

The Grand Highlander fully incorporates the mechanics already offered by the Highlander, but benefits from an additional hybrid engine called Hybrid MAX. Unfortunately, only the Platinum livery, the most expensive, is entitled to it. Without being able to claim originality, we must recognize that everything is well executed, but without soul. But the raison d’être of this “new” model lies mainly in the space it grants to the “back” occupants, and in this regard, the Grand Highlander does very well, but does not take the lead over the ‘Atlas for all that. Without being as opulent as the other two, the Toyota’s third row seats are relatively easy to access and spacious enough to undertake a long trip.
