(New York) US automaker Tesla announced on Monday that its third-quarter production and delivery volumes were affected by planned maintenance operations, while confirming its full-year production target.

From July to October, production reached 430,488 vehicles while 435,059 vehicles were delivered, the manufacturer said in a press release, without giving geographical details.

“A sequential decline in volumes was caused by periods of downtime due to factory upgrades, as discussed in the last results presentation” on July 19, it said.

Wedbush analysts noted a lower volume of deliveries than market expectations, due to a longer-than-expected shutdown of factories in Austin (United States) and Shanghai (China) which represents a deficit of approximately 20 000 vehicles.

“We see better days ahead for the fourth quarter and for 2024,” they noted.

Tesla nevertheless confirmed its goal of producing 1.8 million vehicles in 2023.

Faced with increased competition in the electric vehicle market, Tesla has made several price cuts, whether in the United States, Europe or China.

The group did not provide details regarding the Cybertruck, its electric van with a futuristic silhouette, the first example of which left the factory in mid-July. He then affirmed that the start of large-scale production would take place, as planned, by the end of the year.

In the second quarter, Tesla manufactured 479,700 vehicles, compared to 258,580 in the same period of 2022 and 440,808 in the first quarter of 2023. Deliveries increased to 466,140 vehicles in the quarter, compared to 254,695 a year earlier.

Around 10:30 a.m. ET, Tesla stock was down 0.77% at $248.32.
