Tennis Canada was awarded the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Advantage All Gold Award on Wednesday for its efforts to promote gender equity in the sport.

This year, the organization notably appointed Valérie Tétreault to the position of director of the National Bank Open.

She not only became the first woman to occupy this position in the history of the Montreal tournament, but she is also the only one to occupy the role of tournament director among all the 1000 category events of the ATP Tour, according to a press release of Tennis Canada.

Among other initiatives that have served to promote gender equity, the National Bank Open will offer equal scholarships for women and men starting in 2027. This initiative will be accompanied by a significant and progressive increase in the amounts offered to women over the coming years.

In its press release, Tennis Canada also made reference to the improvement of gender representation within its management structure, with an administrative committee having reached the parity zone and a management team at 100% parity. .
