A Star Trek series that will follow the progress of young Starfleet Academy recruits will premiere in 2024 on the Paramount Channel.

The series will therefore focus around a group of young cadets who will learn the basics necessary to become Starfleet officers. “Friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves, and a new enemy threatening both the Academy and the Federation itself” will be central to the new series, according to Paramount’s statement.

The project has been on the table since 2018, but the creative team has since been completely renewed. According to Variety, the first episode will now be written by writer and executive producer Gaia Violo, who will be joined in production by Aaron Baiers, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa and John Weber. Alex Kurtzman, head of the Star Trek universe at Paramount, will also be a producer, in addition to being director of the series with Noga Landau.

This is the latest from Paramount about the Star Trek universe, which recently announced the renewal of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Lower Decks series. Star Trek: Discovery will end in 2024 after its fifth season. »
