Advertisements, offers, scam attempts… The “spam” tab of your inbox contains many unwanted emails that you would probably prefer not to receive anymore. One of the causes of “spam” is the resale of your personal data by a site to a third party, as the site comment-economiser.fr points out.

To find out which site or company sold your e-mail address, there is a very simple trick which consists of no longer registering under your first and last name when you fill out a form. Instead, replace your last name with the name of the company you are giving information to. Thus, if a spam appeals to you in the name of “FIRST NAME COMPANY”, you will hold your culprit!

Be careful though: this trick has its limits. Not all spam is about the sale of personal data, nor does all of it address you by your first and last name.
