(Toronto) Davis Schneider had three hits, including a two-run homer, in the Toronto Blue Jays’ 8-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday.

The rookie, who is enjoying great moments on the pitch, also scored three times to help the home favorites snap a three-game losing streak in front of 41,924 at Rogers Centre.

“Every day you want to show up and do your best,” Davis Schneider said. It was pretty fun today doing what I did. However, tomorrow is a new day, so make the most of it. »

The 24-year-old hit his fourth long pitch in 10 games with two outs in the opening inning. He also doubled in the fourth before hitting home plate, then pushed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to the plate with a single in the seventh.

“It’s fun to hit balls against these players that you saw on TV a few years ago who were successful in the league,” said Davis Schneider.

Fifth in the Blue Jays batting order, Schneider then scored with George Springer on a Daulton Varsho single.

In a puzzling decision, Blue Jays manager John Schneider decided to remove Davis from the lineup for a week after he hit the home run against the Reds on Aug. 19 in Cincinnati.

With three hits in as many at-bats and one walk against the Guardians (61-69), Schneider now has a .424 batting average, with four longs, two doubles and eight points scored.

To add the icing on the cake, Schneider caught an arrow from Gabriel Arias for the second out of the ninth.

After Jose Ramirez hit a solo homer in the first, the Blue Jays (71-59) scored three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Whit Merrifield doubled before hitting the plate with a Bo Bichette single. Schneider then stretched his arms.

The Blue Jays added two runs in the fourth. In addition to Schneider, who scored after a single from Chapman, Danny Jansen added thanks to a sacrifice ball from Santiago Espinal.

Tyler Freeman hit his first career homer in fifth.

The Guardians loaded up the bases in the sixth with no outs due to mistakes by Chapman and Espinal. But the visitors only scored one point.

Blue Jays starter Hyun Jin Ryu (3-1) was taken out of the game in the sixth with bases loaded. He allowed three runs and four hits and struck out five batters, throwing just 70 pitches.

Among the Guardians, the presence of Logan Allen (6-7) on the mound lasted four innings. He conceded five points, six strikes from a safe place and a free pass.

Yusei Kikuchi (9-4) is expected to be on the mound for the Blue Jays on Sunday in the final game of this three-game series. He should face Noah Syndergaard (2-6).
