(Toronto) Canadian Corey Conners is tentatively tied for the lead in the first round of the RBC Canadian Open on Thursday.

Conners, of Listowel, Ont., went 67 (under-5) in the morning.

England’s Aaron Rai and Americans Justin Lower and Chesson Hadley shared the lead with Conners as the afternoon rounds began.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy scored 71. He’s aiming for a third straight Canadian Open title.

No Canadian has won the men’s national championship since Pat Fletcher in Vancouver in 1954.

Play continues through Sunday at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in northwest Toronto.
