(Miami) The Chicago Bears traded Canadian wide receiver Chase Claypool to the Miami Dolphins on Friday, ending his disappointing stint in Illinois.

The Dolphins will also receive a 2025 seventh-round pick in return for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

The trade comes after Claypool expressed frustration with his role in the Bears’ offense. Claypool was told to stay away from the team for a matchup against the Denver Broncos last week and again Thursday for the game against the Washington Commanders.

The Bears acquired Claypool from the Pittsburgh Steelers in November for a 2023 second-round draft pick. The 25-year-old receiver played 10 games with Chicago, catching 18 balls for 191 yards and a touch.

The Bears have struggled with off-the-field issues all season. Defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigned in September, citing health and family reasons. Quarterback Justin Fields also made headlines when he suggested he was getting too much direction from his head coach.

The Bears recorded their first victory since the 2022 season when they defeated the Commanders 40-20 on Thursday night.

Claypool joins a team that already includes some good receivers. The Dolphins have star receiver Tyreek Hill and speedy Jaylen Waddle in their ranks. River Cracraft, however, was injured during the third week of activities.
