Jannik Sinner has never defeated Daniil Medvedev. The Italian thought he could ward off bad luck on Sunday afternoon in the final of the Miami tournament, but the Russian proved to be ruthless and triumphed 7-5, 6-3.

Medvedev will rise to No. 4 in the world on Monday. Dominating from the back of the field throughout the duel, the 6’6″ giant had no difficulty in controlling the exchanges.

The Russian is the man of the hour in the ATP. He has qualified for the final of the last five tournaments he has taken part in and won four of them.

For his part, Sinner held the former no. 1 on the ropes throughout the first set, but was broken in the decisive point. Sinner, who was playing a second final in Miami, is still looking for a triumph at the Masters 1000 tournament.
