Ready to have “the time of your life”? The film Dirty Dancing will be presented in a “concert” version next fall at Place des Arts.

This is not a musical version, but rather an augmented cinema evening. A remastered version of the film starring Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze will be shown on the big screen in the original English version with French subtitles and the film’s emblematic songs will be performed live by three singers and five musicians. Once the film is finished, the group does it again and performs the great hits of the film for about twenty minutes.

Set in the 1960s, Dirty Dancing recounts the summer of Baby, who succumbs to the charm of his dance teacher (Johnny) and frees himself a little from the rigid shackles of his family. Released in 1987, it is one of the musical films that marked Generation X – and others after – such as Footloose and Flashdance.

Dirty Dancing in concert, will be presented on October 14 at Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts. Tickets will go on sale Friday.
