Businesswoman Manon Brouillette returns to the board of directors of cloud commerce specialist Lightspeed.

President of the Hydro-Québec board since June, Ms. Brouillette is known for having led Videotron from 2013 to 2019, a moment of expansion for wireless telephony activities.

Ms. Brouillette left the board of directors of Lightspeed in 2021 to accept a senior management position at the American telecommunications company Verizon in New York. This appointment was noticed, because it is rare for a manager from Quebec to reach the top of a large United States company.

However, his stint lasted less than two years while the hoped-for recovery of the wireless division did not take place under his leadership. She left office at the end of 2022.

Ms. Brouillette has served as a director on several boards during her career, including National Bank, Cirque du Soleil and Altice USA.

She graduated from Laval University and followed the executive program at Ivey Business School.

The appointment comes as Lightspeed aims to achieve positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) in fiscal 2024 (ending March 31, 2024).
