(Montreal) Australian carrier Qantas announced on Tuesday that it was adding nine A220 aircraft to its initial order for the Paris Air Show.

In total, Qantas’ order is for 29 A220 aircraft, manufactured in Mirabel in the Laurentians and Mobile in Alabama. The carrier will receive its first A220 at the end of the year.

Qantas had selected the former CSeries in May 2020 as part of a fleet replacement program, which also included orders for other aircraft in the Airbus family. The A220s will mainly be used for local flights.

Airbus says it has received nearly 800 orders from 30 customers. The company claims to have delivered 265 devices. The device is already in service with 16 carriers.
