Bored with plantar fasciitis, Kristaps Porzingis of the Boston Celtics will not play for Latvia at the FIBA World Cup.

Porzingis announced on Twitter that he made the decision after an MRI test, in consultation with Celtics and Latvia coaches and medical staff.

“Such a decision is not easy to make, but I promise to support the team as much as possible,” Porzingis wrote, in Latvian.

The World Cup kicks off on August 25 in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Boston acquired Porzingis from the Wizards in June, in a three-team trade.

The Celtics sent Marcus Smart to the Grizzlies in the trade. They acquired Porzingis after coming one game away from making the NBA Finals.

Porzingis set a career-high 23.2 points per game last season with the Washington Wizards. He also provided 8.4 rebounds per game.
