A new tile is falling on the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Christine and the Queens is canceling its two shows scheduled for this weekend.

Via a Facebook post, the Festival announced on Friday that it was “compelled to cancel” performances by Chris, aka Redcar, lead singer of Christine and the Queens, “for reasons beyond [his] control”. The French songwriter was scheduled to perform at the MTelus on Saturday and Sunday.

It is the second headliner to cancel its presence at the International Jazz Festival this week, after Macy Gray, who was to headline the outdoor closing event on Saturday evening. A “scheduling problem” would explain the absence of the American artist, reported the Spectra team on Wednesday.

The Festival invites fans of Christine and the Queens to keep their tickets. New dates should soon be unveiled, specifies the organization.
