A certain radar must have surprised some motorists. Indeed, according to the media Le Parisien, a device located in the Gers would be poorly regulated. Consequence: fines were imposed even though the drivers had not exceeded the speed limit.

The radar was set at 80 Km/h while this was 90 Km/h. It then flashed all users. This regulation tool is located in the Gers, on the R928 between Solomiac and Mauvezin. The error was only discovered on Friday by the county council, which announced on its Facebook page: “a setting error”, indicates the media.

What is this error due to? In June 2022, the section of road “reported a speed increase to 90km / h, following a decision by the county council”, reads the press release.

In the event that you are harmed by this blunder, you can challenge your report “as soon as you have received it, by downloading the traffic order signed by the President of the county council”, indicates the publication on the Facebook network. In addition, the press release explains that: “the radar will be brought into compliance (…) as soon as possible by the State services”.

Since the lowering of the speed on all secondary roads with two-way traffic and without a central reservation to 80 km/h in July 2018, an exemption exists. Indeed, it is 37 departments which have the possibility of returning to their route at 90 km / h, like the Gers, over more than 350 km of network. According to the interministerial delegate for Road Safety in 2020, in the columns du Parisien, the reduction in driving speed could have saved 349 lives in 20 months.
