More and more French people are resorting to gradual retirement, which allows them to arrange the end of their career more flexibly and easily. You can thus use it from the age of 60 and start to receive part of your pension, while continuing to work part-time. What is its maximum duration?

From the age of 60, you have the opportunity to embark on a gradual retirement, as long as you have completed at least 150 quarters in all your basic pension plans. At the same time, you must continue to carry out one or more part-time activities. The amount of your progressive retirement is therefore calculated on the basis of your rights at the time of your request. The pension portion paid therefore depends on your working time. For example, if you work part-time at 65%, you are entitled to 35% of your pension.

During the duration of your progressive retirement, you continue to contribute for your retirement as long as you exercise a part-time activity. Thus, when you submit your application for a permanent pension, its amount will be recalculated taking into account these contributions. If your employer allows it, you can also contribute to the pension on the basis of the full-time salary for your part-time activity. Your progressive retirement is canceled when you cease all part-time activity and request your permanent retirement or if you exercise a full-time activity again.
