(Chur) Dylan Deschamps won gold in the first stage of big air at the Freestyle Skiing World Cup on Friday.

Friday’s races were canceled due to rain; the qualifications from the day before therefore constituted the official results.

Deschamps, of Quebec, qualified first among the men with a score of 93.66 points.

Austrian Daniel Bacher (92.66) finished second and Norwegian Birk Ruud (92) third.

Deschamps, 20, was making his big air World Cup debut.

In the women’s category, Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud (95.5) won gold, followed by France’s Tess Ledeux (94) and Switzerland’s Sarah Hoefflin (91.75).

Megan Oldham of Parry Sound, Ont., did not start in qualifying.
