A little later, in statements transmitted to the press by the RFEF, she explained that it was “a totally spontaneous mutual gesture because of the immense joy that the victory in the World Cup brings”.
But since the controversy continues to swell, reacting to the Spanish Prime Minister, the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) or the famous American footballer Megan Rapinoe.
Condemning “firmly the conduct that attacks the dignity of women”, Futpro demanded in the same press release from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) “exemplary measures” in order to “ensure the rights of our players” by “applying the necessary protocols”.
Futpro explains “to work to ensure that acts like these do not go unpunished, are subject to sanctions and that adequate measures are adopted to protect players from gestures that seem unacceptable to us”.
The union is making an “appeal” to Spain’s Higher Sports Council (CSD) to act “in the face of sexual harassment or abuse, machismo and sexism”.
For his part, Luis Rubiales, who had initially brushed off these criticisms, apologized in a video where he believes that “there is nothing else to do” in the face of the extent of the “unrest”. that his gesture provoked.
The RFEF will hold an extraordinary general meeting on Friday devoted to the subject.
