Twenty years almost to the day after having set foot there, and at their request, the members of the group Foo Fighters will be back in the Verdun auditorium on July 10 for a surprise concert which has just been added to their tour dates.

This was announced by evenko on Wednesday morning. Tickets go on sale June 29 at 10 a.m. “It’s the group’s idea to play again at the Verdun auditorium,” said Christine Montreuil, media relations manager for evenko. This show is part of a tour, but the band wanted to do something special for Montreal. »

Dave Grohl has a special connection with the Verdun auditorium. In addition to the Foo Fighters show on July 6, 2003, he performed there in November 1993 while drumming for grunge band Nirvana. It was one of the last shows for Nirvana, five months before singer Kurt Cobain died.

The July 10 show fits between two performances already scheduled in Canada, at the Festival d’été de Québec on July 8 (sold out) and at the Ottawa Bluesfest on July 12. The Foo Fighters have just released their eleventh album, the first since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022.

From the 1980s to 2000, the legendary arena hosted several major groups, including Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine and Bad Religion.
