Musca domestica: this is the name of the insect that loves to invade our kitchen and most rooms in the house. If it is harmless to humans, the housefly can quickly become a prey to be killed in homes. Nevertheless, there are several ways to get rid of it permanently with natural products. Discover in our slideshow below the recipes that will allow you to hunt them. But the fly is not only embedded in homes.

Drosophila suzukii is a species of fly hated by cherry growers. Indeed, for fifteen years, the latter has been ravaging the orchards. Questioned by Franceinter, Cédric Chevalier, member of the Cerifrais company responsible for selling the producers’ cherries, describes it as “a war machine”. “The Suzukii is an offensive fly that attacks the skin because the females are equipped with teeth like saws to cut the fruit skin and inject the eggs into it,” he explains. But two insecticides effective against these insects have been withdrawn for their toxicity. How do the producers envisage the years to come?

The company Cerifrais has teamed up with a start-up from Aix-en-Provence, Cearitis, to test a new natural repellent against flies. This small company has created a product from the results obtained by the CNRS to help keep these insects away. The researchers found that the smells of certain foods helped limit the reproductive behavior of certain flies.

“These volatile fatty acids come from or are present in food naturally, for example sandwich bread or cereals, it is very satisfying in the sense that it is not toxic and that it can be used”, specifies Martine Berthelot-Grosjean, specialist in the effect of odors on insects.

Tests will be carried out in the years to come to determine the effectiveness of these products on orchards. In the meantime, you can discover in our slideshow below, the natural recipes, offered by Auféminin, to repel flies from your home.
