“There is a wave of anger and homophobia in the United States,” denounced Elton John, in an interview with British magazine Radio Times.

The singer recognized as an advocate for the rights of LGBTQ people has expressed concern about the rise in violent incidents against people in the community in the United States.

“We seem to be backing off. And it’s spreading. It’s like a virus that the LGBTQ movement is suffering from, “he said in this interview conducted on the sidelines of the Glastonbury festival, which is currently being held in the United Kingdom.

In that same interview, Elton John said he might perform a residency show again, but the next time it won’t be in Las Vegas or anywhere else in the United States.

The official reason behind this decision, however, is not related to the climate denounced by the singer. His team instead indicated that he wanted to spend more time in the UK with his husband and children.
