(Zandvoort) AlphaTauri driver Daniel Ricciardo will not take part in the Dutch Formula 1 Grand Prix this weekend after fracturing his left hand during practice on Friday.

The 34-year-old Australian was injured when he crashed into the barrier in an accident during the second practice session at Zandvoort. He was taken to a hospital for tests.

AlphaTauri reported that a bone in Ricciardo’s left hand was fractured. He will be replaced by reserve driver Liam Lawson. The New Zealander will make his F1 debut.

The second practice session was interrupted after just 10 minutes, when McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Ricciardo hit the wall back-to-back at the same corner.

Piastri lost control of his car on the third corner and crashed into the safety barrier. Moments later, Ricciardo locked on the brakes before joining his compatriot in the wall.

Ricciardo was spotted with a brace supporting his left arm.
