Because, the consumer price index, which has not stopped jumping since the beginning of the year (5.2% in May 2022 over the rolling twelve months according to INSEE), impacts all food products. The shopping basket has meanwhile climbed 4.2% in one year, according to an INSEE report published last month. The French have thus greatly reduced their spending: -1.8% over one year. The drop was already 3.8% in 2021, compared to 2020.

The brand retains 1st place in the ranking, with 22.6% market share (0.2 points). “The significant media investments over the period and the better prospectus share of voice certainly contributed to this gain in market share”, observes Kantar.
