(New York) Boston Bruins forward A.J. Greer has been suspended one game for cross-checking Montreal Canadiens forward Mike Hoffman in the face.

Hoffman was particularly unhappy with the punishment. In an Instagram video where he is seen sporting a huge scar on his chin, he exclaims, “An entirely intentional cross-check on his face? A match. Hmm. »

The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced the penalty Friday.

The incident took place during the first period of Thursday night’s duel between the Canadiens and the Bruins, after the two players slashed each other before a face-off. Greer then cross-checked the Hoffman’s face.

On the sequence, the Bruins forward received a major penalty and a game misconduct.

Under the terms of the current collective agreement, Greer will lose US$4,121.62 in wages. This money will be donated to the NHL Players Emergency Relief Fund.
