(Edmonton) Connor McDavid hit the target in overtime and the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-3 on Wednesday night.

After hitting the post on a breakaway seconds earlier, McDavid accepted a pass from Leon Draisaitl and attempted the same maneuver with more success.

McDavid scored his 59th and 60th goals of the season, becoming the first Oilers player since Wayne Gretzky in 1986-87 to reach that milestone.

For the second consecutive season, an NHL player has successfully threaded the needle at least 60 times. Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews achieved the feat in 2021-2022.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also had two goals for the Oilers while Draisaitl was a part of all of his team’s successes.

Stuart Skinner blocked 14 of 17 pucks aimed at him, helping Alberta to a fifth straight win.

Clayton Keller scored twice for the Coyotes while J.J.Moser provided a goal. Connor Ingram gave up four times on 31 shots.
