Wide receiver Maxence LeBlanc is committed to playing college football with the Ohio State University Buckeyes, one of the most prestigious football programs in the United States. The 17-year-old Quebec athlete announced his decision on Twitter on Saturday.

Courted by the largest American universities for several months, he had specified in early April that he was hesitating between accepting the offer from Ohio State or those from Michigan, Tennessee or the University of North Carolina. This former Collège Charles-Lemoyne in Longueuil will play his second and final season this fall with the Baylor Red Raiders, a private high school (prep school) in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The son of former professional tennis player Sébastien LeBlanc wanted to make a decision quickly for his university future so he wouldn’t have to think about it during the next football season. Maxence LeBlanc caught 39 passes for 700 yards and 4 touchdowns last fall to help his team to 11 wins in 13 games. The Ohio State Buckeyes are recognized as a powerhouse in college football, and NFL teams regularly draft wide receivers from this team.
