Cirque du Soleil intends to move into the Saville Theater in London’s West End, revealed the English daily The Stage. It has just entered into a partnership with the investment firm Yoo Capital, which has just acquired it.

The information was confirmed by Eric Grilly, president of Cirque du Soleil’s resident shows.

“We’re thrilled to join Yoo Capital and the Camden community to reimagine the future of the Saville Theatre,” he told The Stage. We believe this is a tremendous opportunity for us to bring live entertainment back to this venue with new content and new ideas. »

Yoo Capital will shortly begin renovating the 110,000 square foot building, based on the needs expressed by Cirque. A hotel will also be integrated into the performance hall which will become a permanent venue for the Canadian multinational.

The Saville Theater is part of a group of historic buildings in the West End. The theater, which had its heyday in the 1960s, hosted legendary groups like The Bee Gees, The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones, before closing in 1970 and being converted into a cinema.

This will be Cirque du Soleil’s first permanent show in England.
