(New York) Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman has been handed a one-game suspension for obstructing Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers, the Department of Security has announced. NHL players on Wednesday.

The incident happened with 8:30 remaining in the game between the two Central Division teams on Tuesday night.

Hartman received two minor penalties on the streak for his gesture — one for obstructing Ehlers, and the other for roughing after play was stopped.

The Wild forward hit Ehlers hard in the center of the ice when the Jets player was not in possession of the puck. Ehlers struggled to his feet, and he did not return to the game afterwards. The nature of his injury, and the severity of it, are unknown at this time.

Hartman is a repeat offender in the eyes of the Department of Player Safety. The 28-year-old was previously suspended in 2018 for a hit to the head while playing for the Nashville Predators.
