Launched more than 10 years ago, the series of youth novels The Complicated Life of Léa Olivier will end this year with the publication of the last two volumes by the end of 2023, the publishing house Les Malins announced on Monday.
Fans of Léa, Marilou, Alex and Félix will be able to find their favorite characters in two final novels, simply named The Penultimate and The Last. The 17th and 18th volumes will be released on July 27 and November 15, respectively.
In an interview with La Presse last August, author Catherine Girard-Audet indicated that she was experiencing “super contradictory feelings” as the end of her series, which had become a veritable literary phenomenon, approached. “On the one hand, I’m so grateful for everything that happened to me in relation to this character and this series. On the other hand, I’m excited to move on,” she said.
In 12 years, 1.7 million copies of Léa Olivier’s adventures have been sold worldwide. Translated into 12 languages and distributed in 25 countries, the novels have been adapted into comics and a television show.
Catherine Girard-Audet is currently preparing a new youth series for teenagers, scheduled for the end of 2024, indicates her publishing house.
