(Toronto) Singer Avril Lavigne is one of five new members of Canada’s Walk of Fame.

Walk of Fame marks its 25th anniversary this year, and the singer-songwriter who rose to fame with hits such as Complicated and Sk8er Boi will be one of the Canadian personalities she will be honoring.

Tantoo Cardinal, a prolific Cree and Métis actress, will also receive a star on a sidewalk in Toronto’s entertainment district, in recognition of a career that spans five decades. She will star in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film, Killers of the Flower Moon.

So will Gary Slaight, philanthropist and broadcast industry icon, and Michael Budman and Don Green, co-founders of outdoor brand Roots.

Canada’s Walk of Fame will celebrate its anniversary with a special event scheduled for December 2, which will air on CTV at a later date.

The organization has previously announced that National Hockey League star forward Connor McDavid and television commentator Rick Mercer will be inducted this year.

More inductions are to be announced in the coming months.
