(Toronto) Pop-punk music icon Avril Lavigne, host and political satirist Rick Mercer and hockey star Connor McDavid are among those who will be inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame on Saturday evening during a special gala at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Canada’s Walk of Fame, celebrating its 25th anniversary, honors Canadians for their excellence in areas ranging from entertainment to humanitarian work.

Actress Tantoo Cardinal, who was notably seen in the American film Killers of the Flower Moon directed by Martin Scorsese, and Roots Canada co-founders Michael Budman and Don Green are also among this year’s inductees.

Hip-hop singer Kardinal Offishall is this year’s recipient of the Allan Slaight Music Impact Honor Award.

Additionally, 13 of the most influential rock music legends of the ’70s and ’80s, including Glass Tiger and Loverboy, who were inducted into the Walk of Fame during a special event in September, will also be celebrated.

Saturday night’s gala is hosted by Drew and Jonathan Scott of Property Brothers and Juno award-winning singer Deborah Cox, who received a star on the Walk of Fame last year.

Canada’s Walk of Fame 25th Anniversary Gala will air December 16 on CTV.
