(Calgary) Calgary Flames prospect Topi Ronni is under investigation in Finland, where he is accused of rape.

His team in Finland’s main league, Tampere Tappara, said on its website that Ronni informed them of the investigation and that he withdrew from club activities.

The allegations relate to an event that occurred two years ago, when Ronni was a minor.

Ronni, 19, released a statement explaining that he had received a court summons on Thursday. The allegations have not yet been proven.

The Flames indicated in a press release that they were made aware of the situation after selecting the player at 59th overall in the 2022 NHL draft.

The NHL club said it will “let the legal process take its course” and will not provide further comment.

Ronni, who plays center, has a goal and an assist in 12 games with Tappara this season.

He played in five games for Finland at the World Junior Hockey Championship, in Halifax and Moncton.
