(OTTAWA) The Ottawa Senators announced on Wednesday that they have fired assistant general manager Trent Mann.

The Ottawa club confirmed the information after rumors surfaced last week about the 50-year-old from Sackville, New Brunswick.

Mann’s departure comes five and a half months after his brother, Troy, was fired from his position as head coach of the Belleville Senators, the Senators’ AHL farm club.

Trent Mann joined the Senators as a part-time scout in 2010, and worked his way up to director of scouting before being promoted to assistant general manager last year.

The change comes as the new ownership group, which is led by Toronto businessman Michael Andlauer, prepares to take control of the team.
