(Los Angeles) American actor Charlie Sheen, star of the series My Uncle Charlie (Two and a Half Men), was attacked at his Malibu home by a woman who has since been arrested, local police announced Friday.

Los Angeles County law enforcement officers intervened in the actor’s luxurious villa after being alerted for “assault and disturbances,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

The actor was identified as the victim, he said. “The suspect, named Electra Schrock, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, an action which could lead to serious injury” as well as for “burglary,” he added.

She “broke into his home and attacked him when he opened the door,” the sheriff’s office said.

According to the celebrity site TMZ, Electra Schrock, 47, is a neighbor of Charlie Sheen. “She ripped Charlie’s shirt and tried to strangle him,” TMZ reports, adding that the actor was seen by paramedics, but was not taken to the hospital.

According to the specialist magazine, this would not be the first confrontation between the two neighbors.

Son of actor Martin Sheen and brother of comedian Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen – real name Carlos Estevez – became an international star thanks to films like Platoon and Wall Street in the 1980s.

From the 2000s, he mainly appeared on television in series like Spin City (which earned him a Golden Globe), My Uncle Charlie and Anger Management.

The 58-year-old star is known to have struggled with alcohol and drug addiction in the past. The highest paid television actor in the world between 2010 and 2011, according to Forbes magazine, he was removed from the hit series My Uncle Charlie in 2011 due to his erratic and violent behavior.
