(Miami) Kazakh Elena Rybakina beat American Jessica Pegula 7-6(3), 6-4 in the semifinals of the Miami Open on Thursday.

Wimbledon champion, the 10th seed thus dismissed the third seed, thanks in particular to six breaks and 11 aces.

Rybakina won a 13th straight match.

Earlier Thursday, Petra Kvitova reached the semi-finals winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 over Ekaterina Alexandrova.

The 15th seed beat the 18th in two hours and 12 minutes.

Kvitova reached this milestone in Miami for the first time in 13 appearances at the event.

Wimbledon champion in 2011 and 2014, the 33-year-old Czech had a 2-1 break advantage.

Kvitova notably took the service of her rival to settle in command 5-3 in the second set.

She collected six aces, including one that allowed her to win the first set.

Each player scored as many winners as unforced errors: 26 for Alexandrova, 19 for Kvitova.

In the semi-finals, Kvitova will face Romania’s Sorana Cirstea, 74th in the world.

Kvitova has won six of their 10 encounters.
