Air Canada announced Friday that it is canceling all direct flights to and from Tel Aviv until the end of the month.

The suspension, which extends one in place since October 8, comes after Hamas’s attack on Israel last weekend sparked retaliatory airstrikes and fears the fighting could escalate into a regional war.

Canada’s largest airline says it is monitoring the conflict and will resume services from Toronto and Montreal when the situation stabilizes.

Many carriers, including the largest U.S. airlines British Airways, Air France and Lufthansa, have also suspended flights to Israel.

Air Canada says passengers whose trips scheduled through Oct. 31 have been canceled can choose to change their travel plans or get a refund.

The carrier generally serves Tel Aviv daily from Toronto and three times a week from Montreal.
