A taste of the coming season. Warm but stormy, the first week of meteorological summer, which begins June 1, 2022, sets the tone. According to forecasts by La Chaîne Météo, a rise in temperatures is expected from this Tuesday, May 31 between the Aquitaine basin, the Alps and the Mediterranean. “But on the Massif Central, the Jura and the Alps, a shower will not be excluded (…) Then this hot weather will reach the central regions, sparing the northernmost regions”, specifies the site specializing in meteorology. A blue sky that will not last long, since the thunder should begin to rumble on Wednesday in the central regions.

“From Thursday, the atmosphere will become tropical over 3/4 of France”, announces the forecaster, due to unstable weather coming straight from the Canary Islands. If most of France will therefore be entitled to threatening skies, the Channel and Mediterranean coasts will be kept away. In some parts of the country, thunderstorms could be accompanied by strong gusts of wind or hailstorms.

This weather will not prevent the heat from reigning, the maximum reaching 25 to 30°C at the end of the week, against 15 to 25°C this Monday, May 30, 2022. “It is over a large south-eastern quarter that it will be the hottest with an episode of strong heat to be feared and maximums that can reach 32 to 35  °C south of a Toulouse / Lyon line until Friday or next Saturday”, explains La Chaîne Météo, stressing that this episode will always be lower than that known in mid-May.
