Manchester United maintained its lead this time.
Cristiano Ronaldo broke his six-game goal drought with a 51-minute goal that set United on its way towards a 2-0 win against Brighton. This result moved United into fourth place in Tuesday’s Premier League.
Bruno Fernandes scored a second goal in stoppage time at 7:07 PM. This was almost the final kick of the match.
Despite having led in all three of its previous games, United failed to win any of the remaining two. It had been in the league twice against Southampton and Burnley, and was eliminated from the FA Cup by Middlesbrough, second-tier.

United’s win against Brighton at Old Trafford was helped by Lewis Dunk, visiting defender. He was sent off for a professional foul three minutes after Ronaldo’s goal. Anthony Elanga was the goal scorer. Dunk was initially given a yellow card, but after video review it was changed to a red.
United surpassed West Ham to reach the Champions League qualification positions. They are four points behind Chelsea in third place, but have played one more game.
Ronaldo was on his worst-scoring run in 13 years at club, but he ended it by cutting inside after Scott McTominay had dispossessed Yves Bissouma and then powering a curling shot to the far corner.
Rangnick praised the Portugal forward’s performance after he crossed the goal line from Fernandes later in the match.
Rangnick stated, “It was very important not only that he scored, but it was an exceptional goal.” Rangnick said, “It was very important for us all, but his overall performance is one of the finest since I arrived here.”
