I didn’t grow up as a humor fan. Pop music was my biggest inspiration. But some comedians, like Margaret Cho and Sandra Bernhard, were role models for me in show business. Even though humor was not a dream for me, as soon as I discovered it, I understood that it was the answer to what I had been looking for all my life to express myself artistically. My first experience was at a festival of performances in people’s homes. I presented for an hour in front of my relatives. A month later, I did my first open mic at Comedyworks [comedy club located on Bishop Street in Montreal].

When I’m on stage, I’m a very calm person. I’m not panicking. I take my time. I love silences, whereas most comedians fear them. Even though I’m nervous, I savor the moment and live on stage.

I was going to say the Just for Laughs galas, but I’m going to say the show I produced in New York in 2016 at The Duplex in Greenwich Village, an iconic location. That night, my idol Sandra Bernhard came to watch the show! We had become friends through Twitter and we had met a few times before, but still… It was unreal to do what I do in front of the person who inspired me to start. At the end of the show, it was she who started the ovation of the public. After that, I decided to quit my job to get into it 100%.

My first tour. This year, instead of doing a traditional break-in, I present a series of shows during which I improvise for an hour. I embark on stage without preparation and I throw myself into the void. So far so good! I record the audio of the performances, I keep the best pieces and I rework them for the tour in 2024.
