(Winnipeg) Logan Mailloux and Joshua Roy each scored a goal and an assist to help the Laval Rocket defeat the Manitoba Moose 6-2 on Sunday.

Tobie Bisson, Nathan Légaré, Jared Davidson and Sean Farrell also scored for the Rocket. Philippe Maillet and William Trudeau collected two assists in the victory. Jakub Dobes blocked 23 of 25 shots, while Strauss Mann, who took over in the third period, turned away both shots aimed at him.

Jeff Malott scored both goals for the Moose. Oskari Salminen blocked 11 of 15 shots. He was replaced by Thomas Milic, who made 20 saves of 22 shots.

The Rocket took an early lead when Mailloux hit the target after just 47 seconds. It was already the third of the season for the great right-handed defender.

Bisson doubled the Rocket’s lead less than three minutes later with his first goal of the campaign.

Légaré, acquired by the Montreal Canadiens in the three-team trade sending Erik Karlsson to the Pittsburgh Penguins, made it 3-0 for the Rocket with a shorthanded goal, at 15:16 of the first period.

Malott saved the day for the Moose in the first period, cutting the lead to 3-1 with 26 seconds remaining.

The Rocket, however, started the second period the same way he did in the first. Roy restored his team’s three-goal lead with his sixth goal of the season.

Malott found the back of the net again, this time early in the third period.

The Rocket, however, responded with two goals in a row on the power play. Davidson found the back of the net on assists from Mailloux and Maillet, while Farrell completed the scoring with 50 seconds left in the game. Roy and Trudeau got their second assist of the game on Farrell’s goal.
