The musical Waitress, which has enjoyed worldwide success since its creation in 2015, will be adapted and performed in French for the first time in June 2024, at the Théâtre St-Denis.

Just for Laughs is producing this musical in Quebec. The cast and production crew will be revealed in the fall.

Inspired by Adrienne Shelly’s film, Waitress is the first musical to have been created solely by women. It tells the story of Jenna, a waitress stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. When a baking contest offers her a chance to escape, she finds an old abandoned dream.

The Quebec production team will work closely with the creators of the show. Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles (Love Song, Brave) penned the lyrics and music, while the show is choreographed by Lorin Latarro (Into The Woods, Mrs. Doubtfire) and directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (Hair, Pippin, Jagged Little Pill).

Tickets are on sale now. The show will then stop in Quebec, at the Salle Albert-Rousseau.
