The Foundation of the Center for Dramatic Authors (CEAD) announced on Tuesday the recipients of the Michel-Tremblay prize – best dramatic text brought to the stage –, the Louise-LaHaye prize – best dramatic text for young audiences – and the Gratien-Gélinas prize – next in dramatic writing.

The Michel-Tremblay prize, which rewards the best text created on stage during the previous season, was awarded to Rébecca Déraspe for Les glaces, co-produced by the Théâtre de la Manufacture and the Théâtre La Bordée. This is the second time in three years that Rébecca Déraspe has won this prize. In 2020, the jury honored her for her play Those Who Evaporated. She also received the Louise-LaHaye prize for her text Je suis William.

This year, the Louise-LaHaye prize was awarded to David Paquet for The Awakening of Spring, a text freely inspired by the work of Frank Wedekind, a co-production of the Théâtre du Trident and the Théâtre Denise-Pelletier.

Finally, the Gratien-Gélinas prize – for emerging playwrights who want to encourage the production of a previously unpublished text in the theater – was awarded to Thomas Dufour for his text Maison Seul. The young author, who has already written for La Presse, is the 29th winner of this prize awarded annually by the CEAD Foundation.
